The Boston Food Forest Coalition is a community land trust that transforms vacant lots into perennial food forests stewarded by neighborhood residents. The network includes more than a dozen sites across Dorchester, Mattapan, Roxbury, Jamaica Plain, and East Boston growing fruit trees, berry bushes, herbs, and pollinator habitat. Each site is governed by its own steward group of neighbors and supported through monthly workdays, harvest gatherings, and free public access to the produce. Volunteers are welcome at any site, and the coalition offers workshops on permaculture design, fruit tree care, and food preservation throughout the growing season.
