Speak for the Trees Boston grows the urban tree canopy in environmental-justice neighborhoods through tree giveaways, plantings, and stewardship education. The all-volunteer-friendly organization runs the Teen Urban Tree Corps, Tree Tenders training, and free yard tree programs that have distributed thousands of trees across Roxbury, Dorchester, Mattapan, Hyde Park, and East Boston. Residents can request a free yard tree, sign up for Saturday plantings, attend tree identification walks, or train as a Tree Steward to care for their neighborhood canopy. The group partners with the City of Boston's Urban Forest Plan and local CDCs.
