Community Boating Inc. (CBI) is the oldest public sailing organization in the United States, operating from a historic boathouse on the Charles River Esplanade since 1946. Its mission of 'sailing for all, regardless of means' is reflected in highly subsidized adult memberships and a $1 youth program that has introduced generations of Boston kids to sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding, and windsurfing. Adult members enjoy unlimited use of a 100+ boat fleet from April through October, free instruction, and racing on Wednesday nights. The all-volunteer race committee, youth instructors, and adaptive sailing program welcome new participants throughout the season.
