Code for Boston is a volunteer civic technology brigade in the Code for America network that builds open-source software for local government, nonprofits, and community groups. Weekly Tuesday-night hack nights at the Cambridge Innovation Center bring together software engineers, designers, data scientists, urbanists, and curious residents to work on civic projects. Past and ongoing projects include tools for housing accessibility, transit equity, food access mapping, public records search, and pandemic response. No coding experience is required to join, and the group actively mentors new contributors and connects them to community partner organizations.
